Cell Phone Use Linked With Increased Brain Activity

A new study conducted by the National Institutes of Health shows that less than one hour of exposure to an active cell phone can increase glucose production in regions of the brain closest to the phone’s antenna. Laura Emberson, a visiting graduate student in cognitive, linguistic and psychological sciences, says that while the study’s direct health implications may be unclear, it may lead to other studies of how cell phone use affects behavior and attention levels.
