Dell Recycling Day will be on April 20th, 2012. Dell is offering the Brown community the opportunity to recycle old computing equipment. Recycled Brown-owned equipment will help Brown save expense by bypassing our normal recycling process; personally-owned equipment can be recycled as well.
When? Friday, April 20th, 2012
Where? Between the SciLi and the CIT, 115 Waterman Street
What can be recycled:
- Computers
- Monitors, both CRT and flat-panel
- Printers
- Mice (not the furry kind)
- Cables
- Phones
We’re able to recycle all brands of computers and equipment – not just Dell.
What can’t be recycled:
- Other appliances such as TVs and refrigerators
How to prepare:
If you are faculty or staff, tell your departmental computing representative if you have Brown-owned equipment to surplus on the 20th so they can start the paperwork and other preparations.
Students, faculty, and staff who have personally-owned equipment to recycle should simply plan to bring it to the location on April 20th.
All Brown-owned and personally-owned equipment will be handled in an environmentally sound manner, in a secure process approved by the Brown Purchasing Office.
Computer hard drives that are brought to the event will be removed by the vendor at the recycling station, and subject to a secure three-pass data wipe before ultimate disposal. Brown’s Information Security Office has approved this process as appropriate for Brown-owned equipment that does not contain “Brown Restricted Information.”
