Phishing Alert: Your Mailbox has exceeded . . .

Fish on a plateBe on the lookout for email requests with the subject lineĀ  “Your Mailbox has exceeded Its storage limit” that asks your to “re-validate” your mailbox. These are from the “Technology Department” but have nothing to do with Brown computing. DO NOT RESPOND.

Instead, before deleting it, open the original copy of the email you received and then click on the down arrow, to the right of the REPLY button, and select “Report phishing.” This will send that message immediately to the GMail Team for analysis and filtering.

The following is an example of one of these emails, with several of the tell-tale clues that it’s a phish and not real.
