UPDATE: Network Slowness

UPDATE 11/15/2012 12:30 pm:

Brown’s Internet Service Provider (OSHEAN) has scheduled emergency maintenance on November 16th from 12:00 am to 1:00 am to resolve recent Network Slowness Issues.  During this time, you will experience instability with the functionality and use of Brown’s internet service.

If you experience problems other than the ones mentioned above, or problems with another service, please report them to the CIS Help Desk at (401) 863-4357.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Update 7:15PM:

Though the slow connections to the internet were fixed earlier today, CIS has heard from our ISP that they will be performing maintenance this evening between 8 and 11PM.   Engineers will try to fully resolve the problem that caused today’s connectivity issues so it does not recur.

From 8PM to 11PM, internet connections may be unstable from campus-based locations, similar to the problems that were occurring earlier today.

Thank you for your understanding,

Currently we are experiencing some network issues with our Internet Service Provider (ISP). This issue may be causing some slowness or disconnects while browsing the internet. All resources internal to Brown should not be effected.

We will be posting all updates, including the resolution of the problem, on the CIS blog at http://blogs.brown.edu/cis - please check the blog regularly for updates.

If you experience problems other than the ones mentioned above, or problems with another service, please report them to the Help Desk at (401) 863-4357.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
