RESOLVED : CIS Service Alert: COGNOS

Dear Cognos Users,


As many of you know, Cognos was down all day today (Tuesday) due to an unexpected problem with the database that holds Cognos content (not source data, but reports, schedules, etc.). Cognos is now back up and stable; we do not expect a recurrence of the problem. After working with IBM support all day to identify the root cause of the problem, our system administrator and nearly our entire database administration team worked into the night to implement the solution and restore Cognos to full functionality. However, in order to do so, they had to restore the database to its state as of 6 am Tuesday morning. That means that any content (reports, report output, schedules, and report views) created between 6 am and about 9:30 am, when Cognos became unstable, no longer exist, and any content modified between 6 am and 9:30 am has reverted to its state as of 6 am. If you had scheduled reports that ran after 6 am, it will look as if they never ran at all.
