Brown University Housing: Machado House, 87 Prospect Street
Available on the nights of Thursday, June 7; Friday, June 8; Saturday, June, 9; and Sunday, June 10
Built in 1912, Machado House (formerly the Ellen Dexter Sharp House) is a two and a half story, brick, Elizabethan Revival style house with a modern addition. It has both singles and doubles that vary in size, and each room has air conditioning. The cost is $50 per night (per bed), and the rooms can be reserved through the Fellowships Office at the JCB (jcbl_fellowships@brown.edu). Machado House is a quick walk (5-8 minutes) from the JCB. Overnight parking will need to be arranged through Brown or through a private parking facility (more details to follow).
N.B. These are better quality dorm rooms, but they are still dorm rooms, and while linens and towels are provided, they do lack amenities (such as extra blankets and a TV) found in a typical hotel room. Also, the pricing is per bed, so we advise couples (or those thinking about sharing) to consider staying at the Hampton Inn, which will be only slightly more expensive for two.
Please let us know if you’d like to reserve a campus dorm room or have any questions: jcbl_fellowships@brown.edu
