Registration

NOTES AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGISTRATION (please read through entirely before registering):

All former JCB Fellows, Invited Research Scholars and Brown Faculty are invited to the Fellows’ 50th Conference and may register for free here. The deadline for registration is May 1, and we ask that you help us to plan and budget carefully by being as accurate as possible in indicating the meals that you will take at the conference.

Spouses, Partners and Family Members

Spouses, partners, and other family members are welcome to attend, but will need to pay a registration fee of $175. Please, call or email Val Andrews at 401-863-5010 (valerie_andrews@brown.edu), if you would like to register a non-fellow spouse, partner, or family member.

Reading Room Availability for Research

During the two full days of the conference, Friday June 8 and Saturday June 9, the Reading Room and Reference Stacks will be unavailable to researchers. If you plan to arrive earlier in the week to do research at the JCB, we strongly encourage you to contact us well in advance, by calling or emailing Kimberly Nusco at 401-863-1263 or kimberly_nusco@brown.edu, or if planning to consult the map collection, contact Susan Danforth at 401-863-1557 or susan_danforth@brown.edu.  Research space is limited, and we expect a high level of traffic during the week leading up to the conference.  While we are unable to reserve seats in the Reading Room, we will do all we can to accommodate research requests.

Parking

Parking on and near campus is extremely limited, and we discourage driving to the campus, but we have been able to reserve a small number of Brown University parking spots that can be requested ahead of time, on a first come, first served basis, at $15/day ($30 overnight, which requires purchase of two day passes). You may request parking when you register; payment will be due on arrival at the JCB.

Accommodations

Please, see the Accommodations page of this website for a list of options.

Excursions

On Sunday, June 10, we will be offering two different guided excursions to RI Historical sites. The excursions, which require a fee, are described fully in the Conference Program and must be registered and paid for by the May 1 registration deadline. This is especially important for the Newport excursion, as the Naval War College requires a list of all visitors to the Naval War College Museum two weeks ahead of time.

Questions

For general conference questions, please use the email form on the Contact Us page, or call Val Andrews at 401-863-5010.
