- Library Web Change
There have been a few problems with copyright and after a discussion in SR, we would like to ask if there could be a link to Brown University Copyright and Fair Use http://www.brown.edu/Administration/Copyright/ from Quick Links. Our suggestion is that it be in the first group – General

“A suggestion made at a recent meeting I attended sounded like something we might want to consider for the Friedman Center and perhaps other of our group study rooms: the option for students to schedule/reserve online the use of these rooms in Library.” [HH to Steven Lavallee]

At an upcoming faculty mtg I have a few minutes to talk about Library initiatives. I want to show the InfoGate search on Library web page. Can you send me a PPT slide of our webpage with a circle around the InfoGate search?

Status: done (jmr) - OCRA Video Reserves Display
I was just checking on a few things for “our” OCRA videoreserves. I now see you display videotitle and cliptitle when the single clip is launched. Thanks! [The WebCT HTML] takes me to the old jukebox with only the cliptitle appearing. Is it there a way the new style jukebox (with full title and info) could be the default for all?

Status: done (jmr) - Forms for Scholarly Resources
Sorry! We’re still wrestling with how to gather meaningful statistics on outreach activities.
I’m attaching drafts of 3 forms – Departmental Profile, SR Semester Checklist, Report a Project. Ideally, these would be up at the end of March, if that’s possible. If not, Ann and I will prioritize. We would like these to be editable forms. Especially for the Dept. Profile and Semester Checklist, people may not fill them out all at one sitting, but over a period of time.

Subfields “t” and “y” in the 599 field are displaying in web Josiah. This is coded data about the sheet shelf list and the old “R” number which should not be showing. Can you fix this?

While I’m thinking about putting things on the library web, this form needs to be updated. It is the slide order form linked from http://www.brown.edu/Facilities/University_Library/libs/art/slides.html

Just noted that the email address (linked by my name on the page) is for Lee_Pederson@brown.edu where it should be Pedersen. I might be missing emails (but probably not).

- OCRA Enhancements:
– The course list now provides information about the status of requests. After each course name you’ll now see the total number of requests and, of those, the number not yet on reserve. Courses with outstanding reserves are in RED; courses for which all requests are on reserve are in GREY. screenshot
– When you click on a course name you now initially see only those items NOT YET ON RESERVE. There’s a “show all” button which will display all book, article, or excerpt requests. I’ve attached a screenshot. This means that for courses with huge numbers of reserves like BI0540 you’ll see only new requests, not the 447 items already on reserve. screenshot - NetSupport Training with Sarah Bordac

Status: done (jmr) - Ejournal Issue
I was interested in being able to browse through the New York Times and the Providence Journal everyday (and perhaps another city newspaper–like the San Francisco Chronicle). Through the library site, you have to search for a specific story–you can’t just browse. When I go to the New York Times site, they require a username and a password. Does the school have access to these newspapers in browsable form?

I just had a phone call from the serials librarian at Roger Williams, who is trying to issue directions to the Rock for a meeting. He found a map at the Admissions Office site which will do, but neither he nor I could find specific driving directions to the Rock on the library web page. Is it there and I just missed it? Maybe something to add?

Can you change some of the org chart? I’d obviously be between the depts except for Admin. And organizational development would go away. Also I think the Demography Library is still on it. And maybe medical services should go under SR, take out collection development?
