The Wellesley Index to Victorian Periodicals, 1824-1900, provides access to the printed sources of Victorian thought and opinion. While of prime interest to those studying literature, history, and Victorian life, the Wellesley Index also covers articles on politics, religion, economics, art, science, archaeology, and philosophy.

Extended Library Hours – Reading & Exam Period
The Rockefeller and Sciences Libraries will begin extended hours early this semester by staying open on Friday and Saturday nights until 2:00am. Every day of the week from April 28th through May 18th the Rockefeller and Sciences Libraries will remain open until 2:00am.
The John Hay Library will be open on Saturday, April 29, Saturday May 6 and Saturday May 13 from 1 to 5 p.m. Those needing to consult materials in the Brown University Archives or the Anne S. K. Brown Military Collection should call 863-3723 to make arrangements in advance.
All other libraries will maintain their normal schedules.

“The Third & Elm Press at Forty”
A Friends of the Library Event – Join the Friends!

John Hay Library
The Friends of the Library will host a program at the opening of the exhibition, “The Third & Elm Press at Forty”, on Saturday, April 22. The Third & Elm Press is a leading fine press located in Newport, Rhode Island. A decade ago, its archives were donated to the John Hay Library. Now, ten years later, an exhibition of more recent work will be on display. The program will feature several speakers sharing reminiscences about the press and its influence, and honoring press proprietor, Ilse Buchert Nesbitt. The exhibition will be on display from April 22 through May 19, 2006.

China Data Online – Trial Available Until 5/10/06
The Library has arranged for a free trial for China Data Online, which has 7000 indicators illustrating economic and social development and census data since 1982. The trial will end on May 10, 2006. Please send feedback to Thomas_Stieve@brown.edu

The Library has two new datasets:
AHD.COM (American Hospital Directory) provides online data for over 6,000 hospitals and covers hospital cost reports, hospital profiles, department statistics, IP and OP data, quality measures, and other public use files. This resource may be accessed on the Level 1 Rockefeller Library Cluster computers ONLY.
Geolytics CensusCD 1980. Long form in 2000 boundaries has 1980 Census data in 2000 boundaries. Search Josiah for other Geolytics products.
