We now have access to MD Consult Mobile, which is a browser based version of the full MD Consult with an interface that is optimized for the small screen.
The new product will give you access to the books, journals and guidelines through web-enabled smartphones like the iPhone/ iTouch, Blackberry, Treo and others.
You will need a personal account on MD Consult to access MDC Mobile. If you don’t already have a personal account, follow the steps below to get started:
1. From Medical Connections http://dl.lib.brown.edu/gateway/medcon/ , after logging on to the Brown network, click on “Online Medical Textbooks”
2. Scroll down and click on “MD Consult”
3. Click on “Create an Account” on the top right
4. Complete the registration form, create your username and password, click “Submit” and log out.
5. Log into MD Consult by going to http://mobile.mdconsult.com from your mobile browser. Note that you must log out of MDC on the workstation before logging into your handheld device.
In order to have access to MDC Mobile, Brown has signed a 6-month site license with Elsevier. In the spring, we will evaluate this service and make a decision on whether to continue it. Your feedback and input would be most appreciated.
As part of the site license, you now also can browse the journals table-of-content, where as in the past you could only access the journals by doing a search.
