We are undergraduate and graduate students in a course at Brown University titled “Asian Americans and the Racial State.” Our objective throughout the semester was to develop an analytical understanding of the Asian American social formation and its role in the history of American racial formations. For our final project, we have built a class website whose main audience are future Asian/American college applicants. Our platform gives historical context to affirmative action, further delineates the stakes for Asian Americans, other POC students, and future college applicants as a whole. Ultimately, we hope this website gives students the language to contextualize their college-going process in the greater scope of college admissions that gestures towards more equitable, just futures. We hope admission offices and officers think critically about their implicit bias and the implicit bias of the college admission process to work towards a truly inclusive and equitable campus.
