The Library Welcomes Boaz Nadav-Manes

BNM-add-1Boaz Nadav-Manes joined the Library in October as the Director of Library Technical Services. Prior to Brown, Boaz served as a Senior Product Manager in the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) in Leiden, Netherlands. In this role, Boaz oversaw the system development of the International Standard Name Identifier and managed the Art Discovery Group Catalog.

Before joining OCLC in 2014, Boaz was the Director of Acquisitions and Automated Technical Services at the Cornell University Library. He managed various technical services functions and was entrusted with the negotiation and budget oversight of acquisitions plans from all around the world. At Cornell Boaz also served as a philosophy selector and was a member of the Collection Development Executive Committee and the Humanities Team.

As part of the partnership between Columbia and Cornell University Libraries (2CUL), Boaz investigated the integration of technology into combined workflows, kept apprised of upcoming trends and vendor services, and worked with vendors and cross-institutional staff to develop new services for both Cornell and Columbia Libraries. As a designer and project manager, he is especially proud of his development of various automation routines, which allowed the library to respond to users’ requests in a speedy and accountable manner.

Boaz earned a Bachelor’s degree from Tel Aviv University, where he double-majored in Classics and Philosophy. He received his Master’s in Fine Arts degree from Cornell, where he concentrated in Photography.
