In the fall of 2017, I joined the research team for Mapping Violence, a digital project that documents histories of racial violence in Texas from 1900 to 1930, directed by Dr. Monica Muñoz Martinez.

Using historical newspapers, birth and death certificates, census records, and secondary sources, I research particular cases of racial violence and reconstruct narratives to increase public assess to these materials and promote state accountability.

In my work, I constantly attend to the role of memorialization in reconstructing historical narratives and analyze the effect of racial bias in newspaper accounts.
