As part of our mission of increasing LGBTQIA+ representation, we work to collaborate with departments, centers, and other student organizations to bring speakers. While we want speakers who touch on a wide-range of fields and interests, the underlying goal of these speakers is to create opportunities for them to share more about their own identity and how their identity and personal journey has informed the work they do. Whether this happens during their formal research talk or during a lunch session or informal meetings with students, staff, and faculty, the goal is to celebrate identity and show that LGBTQIA+ folks can thrive in STEM.
