For Survivors and Activists

Resources for those seeking to deal with trauma on a personal basis or become active on behalf of trauma survivors:

The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) is the nation’s largest anti-sexual assault organization. RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline and carries out programs to prevent sexual assault, help victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice. Their website contains statistics, counseling resources, prevention tips, news and more.

The Leadership Council on Child Abuse & Interpersonal Violence A non-profit independent scientific organization composed of respected scientists, clinicians, educators, legal scholars, and public policy analysts. The Leadership Council seeks to correct the misuse of psychological science to serve vested interests or justify victimizing vulnerable populations — especially abused and neglected children.

Survivor Connections An activist center for survivors of sexual assault, rape, incest, and child molestation. The organization was founded by Frank Fitzpatrick, a survivor of Father James Porter, whose corroborated case of recovered memory has been widely recognized and documented.

Witness Justice Witness Justice is a national nonprofit organization committed to directly serving survivors of violent crime in the U.S. Their goal is to provide trauma victims and their loved ones with access to information and support to promote healing (physically, psychologically and spiritually) and to establish a sense of personal justice, no matter where they live or the nature of the violent crime committed against them.
