The U-FLi Center’s Digital Archive holds digital content documenting the center’s history and community, including the Community Narrative Project. It also holds a repository of event posters and descriptions for the UndocuSeries and Class Dissonance Series.
Community Narrative Project
The Community Narrative Project aims to amplify the narratives of U-FLi community members and partners on Brown’s campus. The project draws from an equity-asset based approach to highlight the challenges U-FLi community members face, as well as the strengths and knowledge they bring when navigating the institution. The project also aims to create community among students in order to affirm shared experiences, provide intergenerational advice, and encourage vulnerability with community members.
The Undocu-Series of the U-FLi Center aims to cultivate spaces for critical engagement that affirms the lived experiences of undocumented communities and disrupts the constant erasure of their humanity. The series, therefore, acknowledges the existence of multiple undocumented narratives by amplifying the voices and work of those who are often further marginalized within their own communities and excluded from the dominant discourse surrounding (im)migration. Through public lectures, performances, and workshops, the series provides opportunities for participants to reimagine dignity, joy, and liberation across various social movements.
Class Dissonance Series
The Class Dissonance Series of the U-FLi Center aims to increase the visibility of working class narratives by providing avenues for learning, reflection, and community building among students. The series affirms the cultural wealth found within working class communities as a means to better understand the cultural dissonance experienced by working class students as they move through elite spaces. Through public lectures, performances, and workshops, the series explores the complexities of class identity and struggle, while examining the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, education, and migration.
